Lower train and bus fares would help the planet

The rise in rail fares is bad news for passengers and the planet. We've published research which shows that high fares are forcing people off trains and buses. As a result, carbon emissions are rising as people use cars and planes instead. If fares were lowered to the European average, rail travel would increase by 17% by 2015.
